you don't need the majority of the things you think you need!

To kick the series off I'm featuring our nursery that I

designed just 3 short years ago!

It's hard to believe that they are in separate bedrooms now and that I am gearing up to redecorate Laney's room {the nursery}

I chose a very "Pottery Barn Kids" feel.

Wall Color : Lettuce Alone [Olympic Paint]

These cribs were a steal at $199.00 ea! Originally priced at $700.00 ea they were discounted due to possible defect in the lot. They were absolutely perfect! So look for discontinued or 'irregulars' because you never know what treasure you will find!

I wanted to make sure that I had some vintage touches in the room as well. I was very fortunate to receive the toddler rocker from my husbands family. It was his mother's when she was a toddler. I also included an afghan that my grandmother had crocheted. Touches of nostalgia and love from their grandmother and great grandmother watching over them.

Liberty Chic

If you have been hiding under a rock then you probably haven't seen the new line of chic accessories and clothing at Target. I'm all about name brands and high end design but the reality of it is that unless you have disposible income then you probably can't afford most of it!

Liberty of London has a new line for Target and I'm in love! Here are some of the affordable, chic and oh so pretty Liberty of London goodies at Target!

Hoity Toity Nursery

When I was planning for the arrival of my twins, Jake & Delaney, I knew that they would share a room for the first few years of their life. I wanted something that was sweet and happy. In all my shopping trips to look for bedding I found this sweet polka dot pattern at Target. The colors were perfectly coordinating for both boys and girls and it set the tone for the entire design.

The sweet pink, blue and green complimented each other so well that I translated the design directly on the walls by alternating blue and pink polka dots above their cribs. Using large pink dots and small blue dots above Delaney's crib and large blue dots and small pink dots above Jake's crib.

The cribs were a great find. After deciding on 2~4 different cribs during the design phase I finally found these fantastic cribs at a local store called Baby Love . Their unique design and slightly distressed finish were the perfect choice! An additional design element to the cribs is that they convert from cribs to toddler beds to full size beds. And at the discounted price of only $199.99 per crib I couldn't pass them up!

The corner unit is a piece I feel really pulled the room together. This was my one splurge from Pottery Barn Kids.

In addition to all of the fantastic furniture I finished the look off by painting the interior of Delaney's closet the same pink used on her walls and Jake's closet the same blue. And by removing the closet doors and hanging curtains it opened up the room and added that much more of a whimsical feel.

{If Looks Could Kill}

I'd be dead!

Let's face it. I have 2 year old twins. Need I say more?

Today in Target while standing in line to check out Jake started to melt down.

Delaney, thank GOD, sat next to him in the stroller just as quiet as a mouse while Jake threw a fit! I tried everything. His binky {I know}, his teddy, his Spider man, his sippy cup, his lunch and NOTHING would stop the nuclear melt down inside him. So I did what most moms would do...I smacked him. NOOOOOOOOOOO I'M JUST KIDDING!

I DIDN'T DO THAT!

I did ignore him, though. I mean honestly, what could I do. I was trying to get out of the store, but I was next in line and wasn't about to LEAVE! So I stood there kneeling down from time to time telling him to quiet. That we were on our way home and that if he was a good boy...yada, yada, yada. Well the next thing I knew the old man in line in front of me literally gave me the dirtiest look I've ever been given. Here I am trying everything in the book to get Jake to, basically, shut up and the man has the nerve to look at me like I'm dirt. Like I'm a horrible excuse for a parent and how dare I go out into the light of day with such a rotten, loud, noise making, excuse of spawn! There was no sympathy. No, I understand...I was/am a parent/grandparent. We all have those kind of moments/days. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I get the evil eye!

I couldn't help myself. The moment he delivered his look of disgust I started laughing out loud. And instantly made the decision to let him scream! I could care less. I spend the majority of my time trying to keep my sanity. Worrying if others {STRANGERS} around me are being put out by my children that I don't focus long enough on one thing to enjoy the moment. So as the crotchety old coot took his receipt from the cashiers hand I looked down at Jake and said "Jake, Thank God he's not your grandpa!" loud enough for everyone to hear! Now, I know that's not much of a come back, but hey...... my kids are good kids, loud ~ yes, but goooooooood kids! And if you can't look at a child and see the good in them, even when they're having a melt down then you're the one with the problem. The only way it could have been better is if I walked out of the store behind him, Jake screaming the entire way, only to find out we were parked right next to each other!

Ironically, in that very same Target, only 2 weeks after delivering Jake & Delaney I strolled through the store with the babies and my mother. As a man, in his mid 50's, passed me he clearly said "WELL, HER LIFE IS OVER!"!!!! Only to get up to the register and have a little girl ask me about the babies and then promptly ask me if I had another baby in my tummy. NICE!

I think I need to find another Target!
