Potty Revisited

Ok, so the other night after their bath Mr. HTB and Jake were in the bathroom when the discussion came up of going pee-pee on the potty. Mr. HTB asked Jake if he wanted to try and he said "okay", sat down and pee'd! I was in the office when I heard "slappy" running though the house yelling "MOOOOM" in a low voice. I turned around to find Jake, naked, in his glory. He'd come to get me to show me his accomplishment. I got up (I was going to say jumped up, but I knew none of you would believe me) I got up and followed his adorable naked, jiggling butt as he ran into the bathroom to show me. He is amazing.

Then yesterday, Mr. HTB stopped by the house and while he was in the bathroom Jake burst into the bathroom and asked "Dad....what you do?" To which Mr. HTB replied, going pee-pee. I heard Jake say "I go pee-pee too". He sat down and poop'd 2 little poops. Again I heard ... "MOOOOOOM" I went in and gave him a high-5 and a "woo-hoo"!

TODAY Laney (felling a little shown up by her brother) says "I go pee-pee on potty". And she did! Then later this afternoon I was cleaning up their bedroom and she was "helping" she stood up, looked at me and said "Mommy, I go pee-pee on the potty" I said ok, go ahead. Thinking she was just playing. She went in ALL BY HERSELF, TOOK OFF HER DIAPER AND PEE'D! I think it's time to break out the training pants!

Girl's got it goin' on!

So, I know that this is a sensitive subject and it's certainly not anything to discuss at the dinner table, but I can't help it! DELANEY POOP'D IN THE POTTY TODAY!!!!!!!! I'm sure, if you've found my blog (the 7 of you that have) you either have toddlers or children of your own or you know us and love and delight in hearing of Jake & Laney's daily accomplishments. So hearing me gush about my daughter's bathroom habits isn't a total gross out for you. So let me tell the story of today.

I took Jake, Delaney, Shelby & Danielle (my neighbor's girls), Kyle (another neighborhood boy)and Samantha & Ricky (the kids I'm watching for the summer) to see Night at the Museum ~ Battle of the Smithsonian. After the movie was over and I got everyone home safely I asked Laney if she'd like to try to use the potty before taking a nap. Like clockwork, we were in the bathroom cheering that she'd pee'd. After giving each other a high-five (yes, me and Laney) I told her that it's ok to poo-poo in the potty, too. And as if she were just waiting for me to tell her those very words.....she said "Bye Poo-Poo" and I'll be darned...SHE'D POOP'D!

There may be some of you out there who think this is all a bit too perfect, but I swear it's the truth! The girl's just got it goin' on! She's ready! She's willing and she's able! Her brother on the other hand.....he'll take some time. But in any regard, I am so proud of my little mama! Just soooo proud!

For now, enough of that topic....there will be no more posts about her daily conquests with the potty. I'll save that final post for when she's COMPLETELY potty trained and in panties! However, I will inform you when her older (by a whole 60 seconds) brother Jake decides he's ready to conquer the potty himself!

She's SOOOOOOOOO Smart!

I am such a proud Mommy this morning! Delaney is simply brilliant (as every Mommy believes of their child)! Since she and her brother turned one a year ago I have been dreading/dreaming of the day when they are ready to potty train. As any of you Mommy's out there know diapers are EXPENSIVE! And when you're buying enough for 2 they are REALLY EXPENSIVE!

Well, last month they turned 2 and I decided that it is time to start our attempt at potty training. As Keith and I have discussed our children about a million and one times, I commented to him that I really thought that Jake would be a bit harder to potty train than Laney. He just seems more aloof than her. And while he's a smarty, Delaney just seems to interact/comprehend/want to please us a bit more than her "cool car" brother. So last night I went to a local baby store with their Aunt Kathy to pick out potty chairs. Little did I know what the night would have in store for our little family!

When I got home both of my little monsters were in the the tub. Laughing, playing and just being sooooo stinking cute! When I walked into the bathroom I got the happy, excited greeting I usually get from my gang! But when I showed them their new potty chairs they couldn't wait to get out and see them. I left Daddy to his tubby time and went out into the kitchen to start cleaning up dinner when I heard Daddy saying to Laney...."WOW, LET'S GET MOMMY AND SHOW HER!". Instantly I knew what had happened.

Soon Laney arrived at my feet, took me by the hand and led me into the bathroom to show me her accomplishment! I knelt down and with true and honest excitement I screeched...."YOU WENT PEE-PEE IN THE POTTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GOOD GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". The look of pride on my little 2 year old daughter's face was PRICELESS! She was so happy and proud of what she'd done that her excited smile stayed on her face for the next 30 minutes. (and the fact that I talked about it for the next hour didn't hurt, either). We quickly called Grandma, Aunt Lynn, Aunt Keri, Auntie Brynne and Aunt Kathy to tell them the news. Then went next door to tell our friends Carol, Charlie, Shelby and Danielle!

Daddy told me that after he got them out of the tub he dried them off and placed each naked baby on the potties. After a bit he picked Jake up and took him into the bedroom to dress him for bed. As he was dressing Jake, Laney went back into the bathroom and closed the door. He finished with Jake, opened the bathroom door and found her on the potty. She looked up at him, waved & said "bye-bye poo-poo". (This is her normal salutation when I change her diaper whether peeps or poops) When Keith stood her up he looked to find that she had, in deed, peed in the potty!

Now, like I said in the beginning of this blog, I knew she would be a bit quicker to catch on, but come on, SHE'S A FREAKING GENIUS!
